RDI

Ruth Doyle Intermediate School (RDI) was opened in August, 2004.  It is a beautiful school that houses fifth and sixth grade students from West Conway.  This year's student body numbers approximately 750 kids.

Ruth Doyle Intermediate School was named for a retired teacher from Conway, Ruth R. Browning Doyle.  Mrs. Doyle spent most of her adult life teaching and touching the lives of children in Conway. Whether it was in the classroom or at a sporting event, there weren't many who could walk by that Mrs. Doyle had not taught or influenced at one time or another.  As a classroom teacher, she was loved and respected by all and her classroom provided students the opportunity to reach and grow without the fear of failure.  Mrs. Doyle ruled her classroom with a firm but fair hand and students knew what was expected and responded accordingly.  Her warmth and caring was evidenced by one former student recalling that she was the teacher's pet, only to later learn that everyone felt that same way.

The school day at RDI consists of 8 periods.  The periods are 45 minutes in length.  Every student at Ruth Doyle Intermediate School has General Music with Mrs. Oeste at some point in the year.  (YES, that means that I have 760 students per year!) General Music is on the "Wheel".  What that means is that students rotate five times a year to a new subject area.  The rotation includes Music, Art, Study/Learning Skills, and P.E. (twice).  Our rotations last approximately 7 weeks, or just 35 days.  Believe me, we cover LOTS in that short amount of time.  Rotation schedule:  Music, Study/Learning Skills, PE (Cowger), Art, PE (White).
